Rock Creek JV Softball drops 2 to St. Marys

Rock Creek Mustangs JV watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-8 loss to St. Marys on Tuesday. Rock Creek collected 11 hits whilte St. Marys had 14 in the high-scoring affair. Rock Creek was down early in the game due to some defensive mishaps but came back to score five runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Carmen Mallon, a single by Tatum Brunkow, and a single by Ariana Reed. Mallon took the loss for Rock Creek. She went all seven innings, striking out six, and walking zero, while the mustang defense committed 7 errors. Reed, Mallon, Leighton Herrman, and Mackinzie Zolck all had two hits to lead Rock Creek Mustangs JV.

morganpitchGame two had a similar outcome, the Mustang JV fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 14-0 loss to St. Marys. A double by Bre Cheever in the third inning was a positive for Rock Creek Mustangs JV. Again, defensive mishaps proved costly as the Mustangs had 13 errors, giving St. Marys more opportunities. Morgan Searle took the loss for Rock Creek Mustangs JV. She went five innings, surrendering 14 runs, behind nine hits, striking out five, and walking one.  Tatum Brunkow, Cheever, and Kayla Malbrough each managed one hit to lead Rock Creek Mustangs JV. Rock Creek JV will play at home Thursday vs. Council Grove and then host a JV tournament on Saturday with Royal Valley and St. Marys.
