Rock Creek Sweeps Chapman

In games played Tuesday, April 11, Rock Creek avenged a loss in the regionals from last season with a pair of wins 11-1 and 4-3 over the Irish from Chapman.

An early lead helped Mustangs defeat Chapman 11-1 on Tuesday.  RC captured an early lead first inning when they scored a run off of an Olivia Lee double with two outs. Rock Creek scored five runs in the sixth inning to complete the run rule 10 run lead. In the inning RC was ignited by a single from Brynn Hammett, a single by Haley Petty, and a double by Jayden Weers. Hammett earned the win for Mustangs. She threw six innings, giving up one run, seven hits, striking out eight, and walking zero. Rachel Duer took the loss for Chapman. The Mustangs collected 11 hits. Hammett, Maddi Figge, and Jessica Kildow each collected multiple hits for the Mustangs. Hammett went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mustangs offensively.  Demi Kunkel notched 4 RBI’s and defensively Haley Petty made a headsy and timely double play off a line drive and toss to 2nd for the pick off.

Rock Creek defeated Chapman 4-3 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game (5th). The game was tied at three with Mustangs batting in the bottom of the fifth when Olivia Lee singled driving in one run. Rock Creek earned the victory despite allowing Chapman to score three runs in the fifth inning via a couple defensive mishaps and Chapman fighting back.

Brynn Hammett singled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring one Rock Creek’s first run of the game. Rock Creek had 9 hits. Jessica Kildow and Olivia Lee each collected multiple hits figgecatchfor Mustangs. Haley Petty, Hammett, Lee, and Maddi Figge each drove in one run to lead the charge.  Brook Dillon tripled, Demi Kunkel had 2 stolen bases. Hammett earned her 3rd win of the season, throwing seven innings, allowing three runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Rock Creek is now 3-1 on the season and will travel to McLouth on Thursday and will start MEL action on Monday at St. Marys.
