Rock Creek JV hosts Royal Valley & St. Marys in JV triangular

The Rock Creek Mustang JV squad played two Back-And-Forth games on Saturday, winning the first 12-7 against Royal Valley and dropping the 2nd game to St. Marys 10-9.

Rock Creek JV and Royal Valley played a taut affair on Saturday, but Rock Creek eventually prevailed 12-7 after taking the lead for good in the second inning. The game was tied at five with Rock Creek batting in thealyssahitroyalvalley bottom of the second when Tatum Brunkow doubled, driving in two runs. The Mustangs were boosted by Carmen Mallon who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Mallon notched 3 singles and tripled in the fifth. Rock Creek took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning. Laney Scott singled, driving in one run and Ariana Reed singled, driving in one run.  Rock Creek belted out a season high 20 hits in the contest.  Scott, Mallon, Searle, Leighton Herrman, and Brunkow each collected multiple hits for Rock Creek. Brunkow and Mallon each drove in three runs to lead Rock Creek JV. Morgan Searle earned the win for Rock Creek Mustang JV. She tossed three innings, giving up three hits and striking out two. Mallon recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Rock Creek.

Rock Creek Mustangs JV and St. Marys played a tight game, but St. Marys pulled out the 10-9 victory on Saturday.  St. Marys was down 9-8 in the top of the sixth inning when there was an error, scoring two runs. Rock Creek Mustangs JV collected 15 hits, but shot themselves in the foot with 9 costly errors. Rock Creek Mustangs JV scored three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Carmen Mallon. Morgan Searle took the loss for Rock Creek Mustangs JV. She threw four innings, giving up four runs, six hits, striking out seven, with no walks. Mallon started kaylarunthe game for Rock Creek Mustangs JV.  She pitched three innings, surrendering six runs, four hits, and striking out two. Leighton Herrman, Laney Scott, Mallon, Ariana Reed, and Mackinzie Zolck each collected multiple hits for Rock Creek Mustangs JV.  Herrman led Rock Creek Mustangs JV with four hits in five at bats.

Rock Creek JV is now 4-6 on the season with games against Riley and Rossville next, and a Holton tournament on May 6th.
