Rock Creek JV picks up double header wins from Riley County

Rock Creek  JV defeats Riley County despite allowing a 3-Run inning in the bottom of the first inning. Rock Creek defeated Riley County 15-5 on Monday.  Rock Creek Mustangs JV took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Carmen Mallon doubled, driving in one run, Alyssa McCormack singled to add another run. The Mustangs JV scored six runs in the sixth inning. Rock Creek JV’s big inning was driven by a double by Leighton Herrman , a single by Morgan Searle , a single by Mallon, and a double by Lori Huston.  Searle earned the win for Rock Creek. She threw six innings, allowing five runs, three hits, striking out ten, and walking zero.   The Mustang JV collected 14 hits. Searle, Mallon, Ariana Reed, and McCormack each collected multiple hits. Searle went 4-for-5 at the plate as she led the team with three RBI’s. Rock Creek stole 11 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Bre Cheever led the way with three.

In game two – Rock Creek beat Riley County behind Carmen Mallon’s no-hitter.  Mallon didn’t allow a single hit as Rock Creek Mustangs JV defeated Riley County 14-1 on Monday.  An early lead helped propel Rock Creek to victory. The Mustangs scored on a double by Ariana Reed and a single by Morgan Searle in the first inning. Leighton Herrman, Mackinzie Zolck, Stephanie Toburen, Emily Ritchey, Luisa Honeywell, Reed, and Searle all had one hit in the game. Mallon earned the win for Rock Creek pitching five innings, surrendering one run, zero hits, striking out six, and walking one. Rock Creek is now 6-6 on the season with Rossville and a Holton Tournament yet to come.
