Rock Creek JV 4-0 on season with wins over Clay Center

In the first game on the twin bill, four runs batted in from Kierra Mosby helped lead Rock Creek JV past Clay Center 16-11 on Monday. Clay Center took a 5-0 lead in to the bottom of the 2nd inning when Rock Creek took the lead 6-5. Jenna Weers knocked 2 doubles in the contest, other multiple hit players were sisters Alyssa McCormack and Kyla McCormack each with a single and double, as well as Mosby with 2 hits. Gracie Ward got the win for the Rock Creek JV. The mustangs had 11 hits in the bout.

Rock Creek won game two by run rule 18-6. Clay Center pitching offered up 19 walks that allowed much of the Mustang offense. Danae Adams had a single with 2 RBI’s. Mia Leon earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Rock Creek. She went four innings, allowing six runs on three hits and striking out four.

The next JV games for Rock Creek will be Tuesday, April 17 at St.Marys, followed by games Thursday at Council Grove, and the JV will host a tournament at Rock Creek on Saturday, April 21.

Rock Creek JV starts season 2-0

Rock Creek junior varsity softball opened up with games on Thursday, April 5th with wins over Abilene 9-6 and 13-12.
Gracie Ward was the winning pitcher for Rock Creek, striking out six. RC was up 9-0 after 6. Despite allowing six runs in the seventh inning, Rock Creek Mustangs JV defeated Abilene 9-6 on Thursday.

Rock Creek scored three runs in the sixth inning. Alyssa McCormack and Kaitlin Nelson each had RBIs in the big inning.  Danae Adams led Rock Creek Mustangs JV with three hits, including a double. Alyssa McCormack doubled as did Kaitlin Nelson.  Jenna Weers and Kierra Mosby added hits.

Rock Creek Mustangs JV took Thursday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 13-12 walk-off victory over Abilene. The game was tied at 12 with Rock Creek Mustangs JV batting in the bottom of the sixth when Alyssa McCormack doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring Kierra Mosby for the go ahead run.  The game was complete after 6 complete, as it was too dark to play the 7th inning.

Rock Creek Mustangs JV tallied four runs in the fourth inning. Rock Creek Mustangs JV’s big bats in the inning were led by triples by Kyla McCormack, Malea Karnes and Kara Riffel.  Abilene scored six runs in the second inning.   Mia Leon earned the win for Rock Creek Mustang JV. She allowed eight hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two.  Gracie Ward started the game for Rock Creek Mustang JV. She went two innings, allowing seven runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one.

Rock Creek Mustangs JV tallied 11 hits in the game. Mosby, Alyssa McCormack, Kyla McCormack, and Karnes each racked up multiple hits for Rock Creek. Mosby led the way with three hits in three at bats.

Rock Creek JV will play on Monday, April 9 at home again vs. Clay Center with a 4:00 start.
